Professional player-trusted Callaway X-18 Irons Set Review
X-Series Irons from Callaway Golf have long been favored by some of the best players in the world because of their performance-enhancing technologies and by recreational golfers due to their forgiveness and great looks. The new Callaway X-18 Irons and X-18 Pro Series Irons combine many of the same patented.
The X-series Irons by Callaway Golf have been favored by pros worldwide because of the technology behind each iron. Many of the best players in the world favor these clubs because of the performance enhancing design of each club.
Coupled with great looks and an extremely forgiving iron, these clubs are favored by many recreational players as well. This model sports a new head shape and size, but includes all the advancements of the older models.
For me, this clubs look as big as woods: the topline is so thick that you could stand on it! The black and blue graphics on the back look very classy, and the DEEP undercut cavity covers the entire perimeter of the club, so this has to be among the most extremely perimeter weighted irons over the face of the earth. The short hosel Callaway is so famous for induces even greater forgiveness (as more weight can be placed back and low), and if you think this is not enough, throw in the VFT (variable face thickness) technology, progressive offset (meaning that longer clubs have more offset for increased playability on the short irons, more forgiveness on the long ones), and you are looking perhaps at the most idiot-proof golf clubs known to man.
Callaway X-18 Irons and X-18 Pro Series irons are the newest irons in Callaway’s X-Series line. “With each iron containing years of knowledge built into a new, sleek package, both X-18 models incorporate the player-trusted and Tour-tested performance features” Callaway is known for, the company said in a news releasing announcing the new product.
1- HIGH trajectory. There is only one way with the X18’s: UP. The shafts’s kickpoint and the head’s massive size make it all but impossible for the ball to go elsewhere. Now those water hazards and greenside bunkers are worries of the past!. from the 4 to the PW, the ball will carry all the way to the limit, even if you hit it less than perfect, which brings me to the next feature…
2.- Extreme forgiveness. Almost to the point of boredom. Thin shots are rare and they lose little distance, and only because of the lower trajectory. Toe shots hold their line very well, but maybe losing 5 yards at most. I am not used to such massive clubs and I found myself hitting a few shanks at the start, but fans of game-improvement clubs will have no problem dealing with this head.
3.- Straight as arrows. That means this clubs are one-trick ponies: high and straight, a treat that the vast majority of golfers will welcome with open arms.
4.- Get out of the rough EASY. Such bulky heads and big soles prove VERY handy on rough lies, as they are able to muscle those balls out of the cabbage in a snap. Amazing, even better than a few hybrids I play.
5.- Excellent feel on the graphite shafts. The RCH 85i are among the nicest feeling shafts I’ve played lately, because they DO let you feel the ball but eliminate a lot of vibration out of scene, and I favor that because of my constant battle with pain in my joints. Add one up for this set for older players who also suffer from pain in the hands.
6.- Accuracy. Yes, big clunky head now can be quite precise when it comes to point-and-shoot. This means you MUST take extra caution when setting up to the ball, because it will fly exactly where the face is looking at. The 8 and 9 irons are very easy to land on the green from 150-140 yards!
7.- Distance is a specialty of the X18. Provided you have a well-grooved swing and enough speed, the 6 iron could very well give 185 yards when teed up (I know it because I did it). The 3 and 4 irons are as long as hybrids, and the RCH85i shafts contribute a lot on the distance thing.
Out of my literally hundred or so clubs I own, the callaway x18 with uniflex steel putting wedge is one of the few clubs that has remained in my play set over the past couple years. This club is dead on everytime (partly due to my accuracy). I like this iron so much that it has sort of developed a personality in my head. You know what I mean – that club that feels like a mere extension to your arm after using it so long. We provide golf clubs sale, and they worth your money.
