Ping Black Dot

Does changing lie angle of Ping irons affect the playability?
If I take a Black dot set of Ping irons and have a proshop bend them to say 5 deg upright, are they exactly the same as a set of maroon dots or are the different lies actually constructed differently?
To begin with — a pro shop does not have the equipment to bend ping irons – the pro shop will send them to ping to bend them and if the irons are still under warranty then there will be no charge for it. The max for lie adjustment if 4.75 deg. upright and then ping will paint the maroon dot over the black dot. Rule of thumb is taller players usually will bend the lie upright and shorter players will bend the lie flat.. To answer your question though — bending the lie will make the club exactly the same as the intended construction… In other words – the playability will be the same. I hope this helps and if not send me an email. I have been custom building clubs for the thirty years.
