Hybrid Graphite Reg
Which Golf Set Is Better?
I need to get my 16 year old son golf clubs for golf team. He probably will not be competing, and this is his first experience so I do not want to spend a lot of money. Of course, he is being “peer sensitive” and doesn’t want something that will get laughed at. Here is what is on sale right now:
TOUR CRAFT ‘POWER PLUS’ GOLF PACKAGE
$99.99 (reg. $349.99)
Includes 3 oversized titanium matrix metal woods featuring a graphite-shafted 400 cc driver, 7 deep cavity, perimeter weighted irons with speed synchronized steel shafts, and lightweight bag stand
DUNLOP ‘REACTION’ GOLF PACKAGE
$149.99 (reg. $299.99)
• 450cc titanium-enhanced driver
• 1, 3 & 5 graphite-shafted woods
• 4-pw cavity-backed perimeter-weighted steel-shafted irons
• combination 3/4 hybrid club with steel shaft
• blade-style putter
• stand bag
As a beginner myself I would go with the Dunlop set, complete package with a more forgiving driver, low price for a beginner just in case you son ends up not playing long. There’s no point on spending more that $175 for a beginner’s set since if he quits then you can re-sell to another beginner for maybe $75, but if you buy an expensive set and he quits then you’re out a lot of cash and will need to find a buyer willing to pay a premium price for the expensive set.
