Driver Senior Flex
Budget driver shafts that are decent?
I picked up a Nike Sumo2 driver a while back from a friend for $50 as my first driver. My problem with the club is that the shaft is a senior flex. It was alright for me as a brand new golfer, and it still works as long as I don’t full swing. Anyways, after using another buddy’s sumo2 with the regular flex shaft for a round, I have come to the realization that the senior flex isn’t working for me anymore. I am thinking about reshafting the club, but am unfamiliar with the shafts out there. I can pick up a new sumo2 with the regular flex shaft for $100 off ebay, so if I reshaft, to be cost effective, the shaft should probably only cost about $50. I’ve looked at a couple of guides, and should be able to do the reshafting myself without any difficulties. Any input on shafts to look into would be greatly appreciated.
You better have a shaft puller so you don’t f up the clubhead. A cheap shaft puller will run around $100 bucks and is usually not great quality. Since you probably don’t and have never pulled a graphite shaft before, it will not turn out good at all. If you want to buy a shaft and then go and take it to a Pro-Shop or a local golf shop that can replace the shaft for you because it can easily be botched by someone who has no experience with golf club repair. It won’t cost the $100 you will spend on ebay so it is still cost effective. You can buy a shaft off of golfworks.com or golfsmith.com. If you want to do this as cheap as possible, take it to the local shop and tell them you just want the shaft replaced, and then regrip it yourself.
