Club Red Face
I think I have an alcohol allergy. My face turns red, i can’t breathe properly…please help?
I’m 20 years old and I’m half japanese (i think this may be something to do with it?), half english.
I’m a student and I usually drink very cheap alcopops like VK and WKD with occasional Vodka and Coke/Southern Comfort and Lemonade and usually have a few shots when I’m out.
Everytime I drink (after even one drink) my face gets red, my eyes become bloodshot and my lungs feel like they tighten, I also get unusually hot in clubs.
It’s so annoying and embarrassing.
Last night I had half a glass of Disaronno and Coke and my chest, arms and legs turned out in a bright red rash, it went away within an hour but only because I stopped drinking altogether.
I never drink excessively, usually have 2 bottles of alcopop before I go out, maybe two more in the club and one shot. Regardless of how much I drink, I still get the red face etc.
Are there any drinks I should avoid in particular, or any that could possibly have less side effects?

The only “cure” will be for you to quit drinking, and yes people of asian decent do react more unfavorable to alcohol. My wife who is chinese/filipino reacts just not as strong as you tho.
Be warned that since you react so strongly to alcohol you might have to be careful taking liquid medicines like cough syrups. You would be taking a much smaller amount but just keep the thought in mind.
