what would be the best choice for handlebar grips?
i’m building a pink/chrome/maybe white? single speed bike for my girlfriends birthday.. i want to know what would be the best color grips for the flat bar handlebar that im using.. the frame is pink, and the rest would be chrome, including the fork… i was thinking about maybe using a white chain with white handlebars? i need suggestions! fire away!
Assuming that her preference is for these colors (why wouldn’t it be? you’re building it for her), I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the choices. For me, I like the idea of a pink grip. It breaks up the monotony of the handlebar and it goes well with the frame. Keep in mind, you don’t actually have to use “grips” in the standard sense. When I build bikes, sometimes I use an old trick that pros use to save a little weight. Instead of traditional grips, use grip tape like that used on a road bike. If you triple-wrap it, it works just as well (some say better). If it’s that thick gel-wrap stuff, you only need two wraps. Then you can do neat things like cross-wrapping or gap spiraling.
