Carry Stand Bag
Want to know more about my Buddhas?
Buddha I have 3 I would like to know more about … One stands in a bag, and has a deposit of plans in hand seems to me anyway. I have one with a bag and looks like a flashlight in one hand and the Buddha is seated with one leg bent and one above to tell can someone tell me more about these guys .. Thanks
The first two Buddhas – the fellows with the bag – not really representations of the Buddha Shakyamuni. By Rather, they are representations of Budai, a Chinese monk who lived around 950 CE, in central China. Budai was known for many things, including the generosity (the bag contains candy for all beings), good fortune (his belly), and the ability to predict future. After his death, people thought it was an incarnation of Maitreya, The Buddha of the future. Here are some pictures of Budai (Hotei in Japanese). Again, this character is not the Buddha Shakyamuni, but a picture of the depth of energy in all enlightened people who can hear and respond to the suffering of the cries of the world. Guanyin shows many faces, but his looks like "Moon Water Guanyin" – the Bodhisattva represents a change in (water) and illusion (the moon). It is popular in the Zen school.
